Imperx Supports NASA Artemis II
When NASA prepared for the Artemis II mission, reliability under extreme spaceflight conditions was critical. Following the successful deployment of Imperx cameras during Artemis I in 2022, NASA selected Imperx once more to provide the most reliable imaging technology for its next major lunar mission milestone.

Artemis II was a 10-day mission designed to test the Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System (SLS) before future lunar landings. NASA required ruggedized SDI cameras capable of enduring intense launch vibrations, extreme shock, and temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C. The cameras also needed to capture critical separation events, including booster and stage detachments during launch.
Imperx delivered eight customized cameras that were strategically installed throughout the rocket, including the core stage, engine, intertank, and interior compartments. Built with KAI-2093 and KAI-011050 sensors, the cameras offered high-resolution imaging, frame rates up to 60 FPS, and a mean time between failures exceeding 660,000 hours at 40°C.
Designed for aerospace durability, the cameras were “built like a tank,” proving capable of surviving the harsh conditions of launch and spaceflight.Beyond technical performance, Imperx distinguishes itself through its ability to customize solutions for aerospace applications. Working closely with NASA engineers, the company adapted its systems to meet the mission’s demanding durability and operational requirements.
